Surf Board Rack Assembly & Installation
Before you begin
This guide covers assembly and installation of your GrimmBuilt surf board rack. Fit has been tested on the Yamaha 195S. Other models and model years have not been verified.
- Maximum board weight: 10lb per complete rack
- Remove the board before trailering your boat
- One board per rack only. Do not stack or carry multiple boards.
Parts and tools
Your rack includes a mounting plate, two clamp halves, a compression sleeve, two forks with preinstalled shock cords, and a hardware bag containing eight bolts, eight locking nuts, and safety pins. All bolts are the same size, and all locking nuts are the same size.
Tool required: Phillips screwdriver only (not included). The parts hold the locking nuts in position while you tighten the bolts. No wrench or socket is needed.
Tighten manually and evenly with a Phillips screwdriver. Do not use a drill or impact driver to avoid overtightening and breaking the clamp.
1. Attach half of the clamp to the mounting plate
Attach the clamp half without the GrimmBuilt logo to the back of the mounting plate using four bolts and four locking nuts. The bolt heads sit on the logo face of the mounting plate, as shown below.

2. Position the compression sleeve
Wrap the compression sleeve around the wake tower cross member at your chosen mounting location. The clamp tightens around the sleeve to help prevent the rack from slipping. Sleeve color may vary.

3. Attach the rack to the tower
Position the clamp half attached to the mounting plate around the compression sleeve. Place the logo clamp half on the opposite side of the cross member. Align the holes and install the remaining four bolts and four locking nuts.
Using a Phillips screwdriver, tighten all four bolts gradually and evenly so the clamp compresses the sleeve evenly. Do not fully tighten one bolt before tightening the others. Do not overtighten or use a drill or impact driver.
4. Install the forks and safety pins
Slide both forks into the mounting plate as shown. Insert a safety pin at each fork connection to secure the forks before loading a board.

5. Load and secure your board
One board per rack only. Maximum board weight: 10 lb per complete rack. Do not stack or carry multiple boards.
Insert the board into the cushioned forks. The shock cords arrive preinstalled. Stretch each cord around the board and secure it in the locking position that best fits your board.

6. Check before use
Check that the clamp is secure, both safety pins are installed, and both shock cords are securely engaged before use.
